Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actor and performer whose performance versatility earned her praise across many genres from period drama to thrillers and action. Johansson was the child of a filmmaker and an architect. The family is from New York City. Her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. Her interest began in acting at a young age auditioning for commercials by age seven. To enhance her acting skills, she joined classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan followed by she attended the Professional Children's School. Her debut came as a film actress in North (1994) at the age of nine. She was just eight when she starred alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson subsequently starred as a character in Just Cause (1995), but her first break was through Manny & Lo a coming of age movie about two sisters fleeing. She next earned praise for her performance in the film as a teen who had a life-threatening accident The Horse Whisperer (1998) and gained more attention in the role of a sarcastic teen exiled Rebecca In Ghost World (2001). When she was a kid Smith was interested in the field of acting. Smith got her first role when she was just six with parents' encouragement. She made a commercial for Dannon. Like many actresses who are new have done, she decided to further develop her talent in theatre. In addition to other projects in the USA she also had her theatrical debut in Wildflower. She attended the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory, part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
