Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born in South London, England into a family of mixed blood. The father of her is Nigerian and Swiss, while the mother of her is English. She was raised on a council estate south of London. At the age 14, she attended The Brit School. She studied acting at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. While attending the school was when she performed in various stage productions including King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe began acting with Storm Damage. She has appeared as a guest on Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her debut film as a performer is that of the Woody Allen 2007 movie Cassandra's Dream. She starred alongside Colin Farrell & Ewan MacGregor. The following year she was cast as Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally, she starred in Trexx as Ollie and six episodes in Flipside. In 2008, Madekwe landed Bambi as the main character on ITV2's drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe also played the title character in How to lose friends & betray people, which was released by Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2008. A couple of her credits on stage are Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) and Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe was officially introduced to her US debut on The Beautiful Life in 2009. The show aired just two episodes at The CW, and was later removed from the air. In February 2011, she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. Madekwe's exit from the series was announced in May 2013. After two years as a main character, she made a guest performance in the opening episode of season 3. She starred as Tituba on the show Salem between 2014 and the year 2016. Her long-time friend, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. They both appeared on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. They have also appeared as partners in Salem.
Ashley Leggat, an actress nominated twice for the Gemini Award, hails from a large Hamilton family. She was raised by her parents Roy and Patty along with her older brothers: Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's sports brothers played baseball during summers as well as hockey in winter. Ashley did not walk, but she danced, so at the age of just two years old, she started Baby Ballet -and she fell in love. That was the start of Ashley's interest in dance. Ashley participated in the top divisions for jazz, tap hip-hop, ballet lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics as well as pointe until the time she completed high school. In addition, she won the top awards for soloists in every major dance contests, like the International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
